There are many, many people who help to make Northern Grip happen. The organisations and companies listed here are the big ones, those who have gone above and beyond. Without all of these generous people the summer of 2017 would have a large Northern Grip-shaped hole.
Proud to be a family run business and have been since 1981! There are now two generations of the Noy family working throughout Leisure Lakes Bikes and they are always trying to push things to the next level and build on the business foundations that were created back in the 80’s.
Born out of the passion for outdoor activity and not accepting the costs involved in getting quality equipment in our sacks. Four ordinary people trying to make some thing extraordinary. And why Alpkit.com™? it’s just a name.. we go to the alps, we climb, we paddle, we board, we visit our in laws.. we produce kit.. we didn’t want it to be complicated.
Pennine Mountain Bike Association
P.M.B.A are volunteers working for Mountain Bikers in Lancashire and the North Pennines. We want to become your voice. We are already supporting a number of existing developments including Lee Quarry. From maintaining the trails to chasing down elusive funding, we help to keep your trails open.
Not just an amazing museum and art gallery, but also a superb bar and restaurant using local suppliers to create traditional yet modern food in keeping with the spectacular setting and heritage. Look carefully in the grounds of the park around the Whitaker you will also find a mini pump track tucked away.
The National Trust are hugely committed to mountain biking and were a major contributor to getting Northern Grip off the ground last year. We’re looking forward to seeing Nik and his team again at Lee Quarry – come and talk to them about their plans for biking in the area and nationwide.
Preston based Skiddle is a primary ticket agent and the UK’s biggest events guide. Not only do they sell tickets for the UK’s biggest events, have a really cool app and like to party hard but a number of their team are right into mountain biking. They fully supported our event in 2016 and we’re very happy to have them back on board for 2017.
Double D Creative
As our name suggests we don’t do things by half measures at Double D Creative. Headed by two Tom’s – Tom Dent and Tom Denton – our team of creatives have been delivering eye-catching and engaging campaigns for traditional and digital media since the doors opened in 2006.
Sustrans do the hidden hard work that keeps our bike trails open right across the UK. If you’ve ridden to and from Lee recently you’ll have spotted the upgrades that are being made to some crucial paths in the area and we’re hoping to build them into some of our recommended routes.
TrailMaps.co.uk are creating stylish, contemporary designer maps of the UK’s best trails. Let your love of mountain biking take pride of place in your home. Take down that tatty old poster you got free in a magazine and treat your walls to a properly printed piece of artwork. Their prints are designed by riders, for riders, they make perfect presents for mountain bikers. They also donate a proportion of their profits to volunteer trail building organisations.
WeRide offer guided adventures for all abilities and MTB skills coaching for beginner to expert level riders. We like to think that being on your bike is about as good as it gets when exploring the great outdoors – muddy trails, forest path, long descents and warm summer days are pretty hard to beat! Burgtec believe in quality over quantity so they’re not about producing mass amounts of components and flooding the market with them. They are concerned with making a change whether it is flat pedals that exceed expectation or wider handlebars that give that extra width you need or just making superior products. They aim to break the mould and extract every technical advantage possible to claim every second possible.
Whoosh Mountain Biking
Whoosh Mountain Biking are really looking forward to helping folks get the most out of their time at Northern Grip 2017. Lee Quarry is their local trail centre and the base for their Get Tech skills course so they know it well and can’t wait to show it off… Based in Hebden Bridge they ply their trade on the finest trails across the North of England, running regular led rides, confidence-inspiring skills courses and custom private guiding/coaching sessions to suit riders at all levels.

With over twenty years’ experience in the automotive industry and untold years of camper-van ownership, they decided to develop vehicles suited to those wanting to enjoy the outdoors, and still enjoy life’s home comforts on your travels. Fusion is one of the North West’s leading large format graphic production specialists. From in house design and production to nationwide installation, the Fusion team are dedicated to providing the highest level of quality and service.
Spokes & Gears
Spokes & Gears are a mobile cycle repair service working throughout Lancashire. Based near Preston, they carry out all aspects of bike servicing and repairs for mountain bikes, road bikes and family cycles. This is their first year at Northern Grip and they are keen to offer advice and support for anyone attending the event.
